Final Project - Complete

A link to the character file,

I used some tutorials videos of a playlist, RPG graphics Blender on YouTube as a reference.

I created a female figure in Blender before and this time, I challenged creating a stout male figure. My proposal was to create several motions of a character, but the modelling, rigging, texturing and weight painting took more time than I expected, therefore, I created one motion. In the beginning ob the project, I imagined my game would have a village in a prairie; in modelling process, I decided to create one of villagers who is a stout female. In texturing process, I chose light and dark colours for clothing to make them seem hemp cloth which villagers in the game p[produce. In the animating process, I filmed my self raising my clenched fist to animate the motion of  a character's victory or achievement. The hardest part was weight painting because it was complicated to match the movement of the body and each clothing for its smooth animation. I had many difficulties covering up all the skin by clothing and hide the skin during the motion.
The effort I put in this project to create the character and motion and its achievement is a great experience for me to learn the basic functions of Blender and how I can use them to create original animation.

As for the allocating 40 marks, I would like the marks to be split between,

                                                                   - Modeling
                                                                   - Rigging
                                                                   - Texturing
                                                                   - Weight Painting
                                                                   - Animating
                                                                   - Creativity

Final Project Proposal

Proposal

A goal of my final project is to animate a character in Blender to create several different motions that a character act in a game. I am new to Unity and it would take more time than the classes left, therefore, I will design an idea for the game world and a character and then challenge only modelling, texturing, rigging and animating a figure which have different actions like running, walking and jumping in this final project..

Contents

                         - Sketches : this includes planning the design of character, its clothing
                                             and the game world.
                         - Character Modelling : this is modelling my character in Blender
                         - Character Design : this includes texturing in Blender.
                         - Filming : this includes deciding what motions a character act and film myself doing                                                                                      it for reference video.
                         - Character Motion : this includes rigging and animating for making several actions                                                                                                       in Blender.

Game Maker - Asteroid Part C

A file to Part C,

I had difficulty with coding the player disappear when it hits an asteroid and the problem was that it remained even after it hit an asteroid and next player appeared.  I solved it by changing the code of asteroid affect other and not the asteroid itself.
I used original image for the player and made the game a bit more colourful.

Game Maker - Asteroid Part B

Part B file:

I didn't really have difficulty with following the part B. I drew asteroids in editing mode and have changed their design form the tutorial videos.

Game Maker - Asteroids Part A

A file to my Asteroid Game,

What difficulties did you have? How did you solve them?

I was creating original rocket referencing a clip art I found and I had difficulty with drawing and resizing the rocket to fit in the game. I tried several functions in the editing tabs of rocket sprite and found a way to properly resize it.

Game Maker - Catch the Clown

This is a link to my Clown Game file.

I didn't have difficulties to create the Clown Game because the tutorial was very descriptive. However I got confused when I was setting the "obj
_clown" to transform. I had to place the action of  "Transform the sprite" in each Events of  "obj_clown"and the problem solved.

Indie Game -The Movie-

1, What are some of the difference between "big games" and "independent games" in terms of style/concepts and how they are made?

The difference between the styles of "big games" and "independent games" is that "big games" usually try to appeal to large amount of audience and created by big companies, although "independent games" reflects on what the creators want and appeal to smaller group of fans.

2, What are some of the difficulties the developers in the film had to overcome?

One of the difficulties the developers had to overcome is that the developers of FEZ needed to get permission from an ex-associate of the company to be able to advertise and present the game. The other difficulty is that focusing on creating games takes incredible amount of time for the developers and they can only have a very small social life.

3, What do you think you would like about working on an indie (independent) game? What do you think you might not like?

One thing that I like I like about working on and indie game is that I would be able to create my own style of game and tell my message to audience through its story and characters. One part I might not like is that I would have less social life and I won't be able to connect with people and get stressed.

4, What is some advice you could offer to someone who is trying to create their own game, based on what you learned in the film?

Some advice I would offer to someone who is trying to create their own game is that not getting stressful by criticism and improve time management skill to efficiently work on making the game.

5, For the developers, what is the best part of completing the creation of a game?

The best part is that the developers finally complete the game and they would be able to watch how fans play and audience react to the game.
